01/07/08 – GOOOOO TIGERS!!

The Tigers are playing for the BCS National Championship today against Ohio State and Sheldon is throwing a party at ther house!  Gotta dress the part!!  Dude, check out those LSU Chuck Taylor shoes!

My First Christmas!

Well, I had a chance to enjoy my first Christmas and boy was it fun!  I spent alot of time in my car seat travelling to Tootsie and Popsie’s first and then to Ami and Pawpee’s house, but it was well worth it.  Not only did I get all of the attention and get showered with kisses, but I got all kinds of cool stuff!!  As a matter of fact, I think I’m gonna push up my ‘workout schedule’ so that I can start moving around more to play with all of my stuff.  Christmas morning was really special cuz me, Mommy and Daddy sat in front of the fireplace looking at those big bright orange flames and we remembered that we had to share this Day with another baby…Baby Jesus.  We sang Happy Birthday to him and thanked him for continuing to heal me, to watch over me and to be the power behind all of the miracles in my life.  I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

I went to Ingram Bates’ 1 year old Birthday party today and man, did I have fun seeing all of my friends. Of course, Mommy and Daddy were showing me off with no casts on. We had cake, ice cream, hamburgers (Man, Uncle Jason cooks a mean burger!), and she had a space walk! We all got together on the bed and took some pics of ‘The crew”. Check them out…

OFF WITH THOSE CASTS!!!

I went to the doctor today to get my 4th set of casts on and the doctor said that I didn’t need them any more!! (Yeah!!) ….And you said God doesn’t work miracles. When we first got the casts on, the doctor said that I would have to wear casts for 1 year (…being changed out every week) to get my feet aligned correctly. After 3 castings, the doctor looked at my feet and said, “Wow, these feet look amazing. He doesn’t need casts any more. He has graduated to the shoes.” Yes, you read that right. I’m only 3 months old and I’m already ‘graduating’ from things….HOW YA’ LIKE ME NOW! These shoes have a bar in between them so that I can perfect my snowboarding stance…..

Me, Mommy and Daddy are going to Shriner’s Hospital in Shreveport, LA tomorrow (Monday) night. We are going to see a specialist on Tuesday morning that works with kids with feet like mine. Supposedly this hospital is best for children with spine and orthopedic problems and from what Mommy and Daddy are hearing, it’s the best. We’ll give you some updates when we get back.

My First Bath…

Hey guys!  I had my first real bath today with Mommy and Daddy!  We all got into the big tub together (while Sophie licked all of the water that spilled out!) and I loved it.  Man, why wasn’t I introduced to this earlier?  I’m a natural in the water….that is until my daddy was rinsing my head off, poured water in my face and almost drowned me!  Check out the pics.

I’m a month old already!!!!

One month ago today, you were graced with my presence into this world.  Yep, that’s right.  I’m growing by the day now that all of those surgeries are over.  Oh!  I forgot to give you guys an update about my last surgery!  I had my two hernias removed and did fine.  I stayed in the hospital overnight and watched the Saints get whipped by the Colts on NFL opening night, woke up the next morning, and went home.  Nothing to it.  I’ve got this surgery thing down.  (Not that I want anymore surgeries!)  I’m now home and growing bigger every day.  I went to Ruffino’s for the first time with Ami’, Pawpee, Tootsie, Popsie, Mommy and Daddy.  Boy, it was fun.  

ALLRIGHT, ALREADY!!!

Yes, yes.  I know.  I’m slipping on the updates.  I’m sorry, but I’ve been a little busy.  I have had lots of visitors, which I love, and my mommy and daddy keep waking me up in the middle of the night, so I have to get my sleep during the day.  That’s why I haven’t written any updates lately. 

Okay, what do you want to know?  My next surgery is still scheduled for this Thursday, the 6th.  The doctor will go in and repair my two little hernias.  I will stay in the hopital  overnight Thursday night and go home Friday.  My feet and legs are getting stronger every day.  Mommy and Daddy go thru some stretches with me, I wear my splints like a good boy and my feet are straightening out.  My catheterization has been stretched to 7-8 hour intervals and we’re only getting 10-15 cc every time vs. the 3 hour intervals and 60 + cc that we were getting when we started.  Once again, God is showing his healing power.  I’m “going” on my own and peeing all over mommy and daddy!! (He He!!) 

I’ve had a chance to have a normal life with all of my friends coming to visit me.  (Nothing against you relatives and adults, but it’s nice to have a little fellowship with someone of your own age.)  I’m including some pictures of Sheldon and Ingram.

 

Oh, I got to watch my first LSU Tigers game….Bulldogs who?  It was exciting.  I think I even have a picture of me in my first LSU gear.

WOW! It’s been a long time.

Hey.  Sorry I haven’t given you any updates, but Daddy went back to work and took his computer with him so I haven’t been able to write you.  Surgery #2….CHECK!!  The shunt that runs from my head to my belly was a success.  As a matter of fact, the doctors said that it started working before they left the operating room.  This shunt will drain the excess fluid im my head to my belly.  I don’t even feel it’s there. 

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you……I’M HOME!!!!  I came home this past Saturday at around 2PM.  Wow!  I’ve got a nice crib!  I’ve got a nice house too! (HA!)  My mommy and daddy have been showering me with kisses all the time.  I sleep with them in their room (…they keep it freezin’ in this house!) in my own little bed next to theirs.  I have a nurse that comes  and checks on me about 3 times a week.  She takes my temp, looks at my scars (I dare anyone to challenge me to a number of scars contest).  I know mommy and I have a couple of doctor’s appointments this week.  One of them, I get to meet my pediatrician.  I heard she’s cool.  The other, I have to go to another doctor for my little hernia that they found in my lower stomach area from the last surgery.  I will have to have a small surgery with a scope (yes…#3) to remove the hernias, but that’ll be in and out in one day.

I’m starting early to eat my mommy and daddy ‘out of house and home’.  I am up to over 3 ounces each feeding.  I like to sleep about 20 hours a day (do I sense any jealousy??).  I wake up, get my diaper changed, play for a little bit, eat again, and then go back to my ‘beauty rest’.   

My legs are kickin’ up a storm.  Mommy and Daddy do exercises with me every day and then they put these cool boots on me for a couple of hours at a time to help straighten my feet.  Daddy says they are my snowboarding traning boots.

I got to meet some family this weekend!!  Maw Maw Kate, Paw Paw Ray,  and Aunt Donna came up to visit.  If I can say so myself, I’m gonna be one cool dude with all of these cool relatives.  And then, to top it all off, I got to meet the best lookin’ chick on the block, SHELDON GREMILLION!  WOW!  Is she a looker?!  (What do they feed that girl?)
